ImageWalker – View, Edit, Manage Your Images
The Microsoft-developed Windows operating system comes with a built in image viewer, the appropriately named Windows Photo Viewer. It is a rather basic tool that will leave you wanting for more. So if you’re looking for an alternative to the default Windows image viewer, I present to you the dark themed and easy to use ImageWalker, a Zac Walker-developed application you can use to manage, view, edit, and share your images.
The ImageWalker installation file weighs in at a very lightweight 2.3MB, which means it will take little of your time to get the file off the web and onto your computer. Run the installation file and a setup wizard will guide you through the installation process (all Windows versions from Win98 onward are supported). You will be asked which components you want to install (ImageWalker program, spell check dictionaries, web page templates, Start menu shortcuts) and where you want to install them (select the installation directory).
ImageWalker’s dual pane interface features a dark theme; the black background is selected by default while the black skin is not. Enable the black skin and ImageWalker will be all black – and that looks quite nice. From the dual pane interface it is quite easy to navigate to where you store your images. You can view your images then, edit them (crop, rotate, blur, and so on), share them with others (upload to Flickr), convert them to another format, set an image as the desktop wallpaper, view images as a slideshow, and print out images. With ImageWalker you can also capture what’s displayed on your desktop and you can generate HTML web galleries for displaying images on a website.
ImageWalker is free for non-commercial or educational use; registration is optional. If you’re going to use the application for commercial use, you need to register the software.
A beautiful, dark themed image viewer that you can use to view, edit, share, convert and manage your images.
Pros
Works with just about any Windows edition; simple installation process. Dual pane, dark themed interface that is quite easy to use. View, edit, print, share, and convert images; generate HTML web galleries; capture what’s displayed on the desktop. Free for non-commercial use.
Cons
None that I could think of.
